Jody Wood
Rev. Jody L. Wood is the Executive Director of New York City Intercessors, a member of Resurrection Church and a partner of City Covenant Coalition.
Jody, her husband Dennis, and their three daughters moved to NYC as missionaries in 1997 to serve CityNet Ministry. During the time she was serving CityNet she was involved in leading short-term mission teams. She equipped and taught individuals how to evangelize their neighborhoods, cities and nation.
Following this, she was launched into the ministry of intercession. Serving together with Nina Lemnah, Director of CityNet and Founder of NYCI, Jody was mentored and equipped to begin her own ministry.
In January of 2001, Jody was released to be the Director of New York City Intercessors. Jody along with her leadership team is closely working with a pastoral advisory board. The vision of NYCI is to equip, train and mobilize the body of Christ in the area of strategic prayer for the purpose of seeing the kingdom of God established on earth as it is in Heaven. The purpose is to equip individuals in strategic focused prayer, train local churches in praying for their leaders and to mobilize a multi-generational prayer force.
Jody's passion is to see what was poured into her be reproduced in the next generation for the purpose of seeing our cities transformed.
Rev. Dr. McKenzie "Mac" Pier

Rev. Dr. McKenzie Pier is President and Founder of Concerts of Prayer Greater New York. God birthed within him a deep understanding of the power of prayer in 1983. That summer Mac and his wife Marya, served as short-term missionaries in Bihar, India. They were overwhelmed by the vast needs they saw - masses of people in an area the size of Nebraska suffering from illiteracy, poverty and the lack of Christian witness. Over the course of 10 weeks, the entire ministry team met every Friday to pray from three to nine hours. They understood that only God could transform that region and that prayer was the way to solicit God's intervention. Today one can see the evidence of their answered prayers -- there has been an 80% increase in the number of churches within Bihar.
The next year, Mac and Marya moved to New York City, which they believed was to be a brief stop on their way back to India. Eighteen years later it is evident that God had other plans. Mac would eventually serve as facilitator of the united prayer movement throughout New York City, Long Island, Northern New Jersey, Fairfield County, and Connecticut.
Concerts of Prayer Greater New York began as a grassroots expression of unity with a "concert of prayer" (ecumenical prayer meeting) in 1988 led by Rev. David Bryant. COPGNY has been described as one of the most developed urban prayer and pastoral networks in the world. The ministry reaches more than 2,200 churches from dozens of ethnic, denominational, and language groups. Since 1995, more than 120,000 people have participated in COPGNY initiatives including 1200 that participates in three Urban Consultations and 2,500 that attended the Christian Community Development Association national conference.
Mac frequently serves as a resource for other "city-reachers" and "city-wide prayer leaders" through Mission America and Prayer Transformation Ministries. In 2003 he will co- direct "The National Leadership Forum," with Mission America. The purpose of gathering is to celebrate and experience what God is doing in New York City, equipping leaders to more effectively live and share the Gospel in word and deed.
With World Vision, Mac also is mobilizing churches and individuals across the greater New York area to respond to the needs of Ugandan widows and orphans whose lives have beeen devasted by HIV/AIDS.
Mac is co-author of The Power of a Praying City (Pier &Sweeting, InterVarsity Press, Sept. 2002), a testament to God's grace experienced in the region before, during and after the tragic events of September 11, 2001. He also is a contributor to "Signs of Hope in the City: Ministries of Community Renewal" (Carle & DeCaro, Judson Press, 1997). He earned a doctor of divinity degree from Eastern Baptist Theological Seminary in June 2000.
Mac's strongest desire is "to see pastors and lay leaders from every racial and denominational background come together leading the Body of Christ into the coming revival as one Church." He and his wife Marya reside in Flushing, Queens with their three children. |
